The Latento XXL is an unpressurised solar layer storage specially developed for use in a single-family dwelling with up to 4 people.

Around 20 kWh (68 MBtu) solar energy (= free energy) can be stored in the Latento XXL.

The tank insulation has been designed so that the stored energy can be accumulated for several days.

Depending on the energy requirements, this means that supply is possible on cloudy days.

Loading is from top to bottom. If there is not enough solar energy, other sources of heat can be used to bring the LATENTO XXL to the temperature required. The domestic water heat exchanger works according to the instantaneous water heater principle. The excellent heat insulation of the LATENTO always keeps the water stratified.

To ensures optimum supply of hot water the back-up heat exchanger is located in the upper third of the LATENTO XXL . By sufficient sun radiation, this required temperature level is reached after approx. 20 min. The ideal stored water temperature is between 65°C (149°F), and 95°C (203°F).

Latent Material 

The LATENTO XXL can be operated with up to 20 kg (44 lbs) latent material. The latent material melts at a temperature of approx. 65 °C (149°F). In the process, it absorbs 1.1 KWh (3.76 MBtu) thermal energy without changing the temperature in the storage tank. This means that energy can be stored without losses of heat. If the storage tank cools down to below 65°C (149°F), the latent material solidifies again and transmits the stored energy to the stored water.

The latent material prevents evaporation of the stored water. To minimize the water and energy losses, every LATENTO XXL is filled with up to 20 kg (44 lbs) of latent material at the factory. The latent material consist of food grade components.
